Captain Todd Lavery enlisted into the Army in 1995 as an Armor Crewman.  He served in the 2-27 AR BN at Camp Casey in Korea in 1995 and then the 1-13 AR BN at Fort Riley until 1999.  He transferred to the Kansas Army National Guard in 2000.  He served on the 73rd Civil Support Team (WMD) as an NCO until 2005.  He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant as the Recon Team Leader on the 73rd CST on 10 February 2005.  Key assignments include Operations Officer, 73rd CST, Operations Company Commander, 35th ID HHBn, Secretary of the General Staff, 35th ID, and Deputy Commander, 73rd CST.   4444

Additionally Captain Lavery deployed to Kuwait as an Assistant S3 with the 1-108th AVN BN in 2011.

Captain Lavery’s awards and decorations are the Army Commendation Medal (4 OLC), Army Achievement Medal (1 OLC), Air Force Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and the Armed forces Reserve Medal with an M Device.

Captain Lavery has a Bachelor’s of Arts degree in Criminal Studies and Sociology from the University of Kansas.  His military education includes Chemical Officer Basic Course, Captain’s Maneuver Career Course, Civil Support Pre-Command Course, and Technical Escort (J5).
